  • He -Jars of Clay

I received the original Jars of Clay album on tape, free in a contest from K-love held at a Jars of Clay concert at First Baptist Church in San Jose.  It was Jars' first performance in the Bay Area I think.

This is the song that defined my childhood.  God saw to it providentially that I received the only free tape for a household that still doesn't own a CD player, and one in which I had no personal spending money to purchase any music.  Anyone remember this song?

    He
Don't try to reach me,if I'm already dead
The pain when it grips me, for things that I've done

Well I try to make you proud, but for crying out loud
Just give me a chance to hide away
the Exhaustion takes over, will this someday be over?

    chorus:
    Fearful tears are running down
The pain you've laid don't speak a sound
Don't take my heart away from me
And they think I fell down, again

    Daddy, don't you love me?
Then why do you hit me?
    Momma don't you love me
Then why do you hurt me?
Well I try to make you proud, but for crying out loud
Just give me a chance to hide away
the Exhaustion takes over, will this someday be over?

A teardrop falls from up in the heavens
Drowning the sorrow of angels on high
For the least of the helpless, the hopeless, the loveless
Your Jesus, His children, He holds in His eyes

    He loves you
    He sees you
    He knows you
    protects you
    He needs you
    He holds you

  • January Update-

Break was good, caught up with some friends and the family.

This new year brings with it a desire to *try* to be more considerate,  to work on marketing things for -possible- internship and ministry, to work harder like a rice farmer (see Outliers-Malcolm Gladwell), but still remain smart about farming out tasks to those who are faster/brighter (Strengths Finder 2.0).

This may only make sense to a few of you, but I acquired Maximizer and Individualization as Strengths, while Adaptability and Activator are still there underneath,  but in 6th and 7th position.  I am still Context, Communication, and Harmony.

Hopefully I figure out how to coach better this year as well, as it seems Maximizer and Individualization tie into that quite amicably.

    Here's to some real results!

  • Google Phone Review

Okay, I bought it to use up my 2 year service plan upgrade at t-mobile.

Google phone is basically... mmmm not as slick as iPhone, it's basically designed to let you gtalk all the time and do gmail.  That's all I've found it useful for.  Also sort of annoying is that when you insert sim chip you do NOT get the contacts to populate automaticalyl whcih is annnoyyyyyyying!!!

    Enough said.

    Off to ebay.

  • What scares me is that Obama seems to be a master marketer and charismatic speaker.

I think he really could pull many fast ones on people.

    Which scares me.

    Bill Clinton never scared me.

Hillary even technically doesn't scare me.

I feel Obama can convince anybody of anything.

    Obama sorta scares me.

  • Obama wants to cut taxes while giving healthcareto EVERY American. Oh and outsourcing is evil. HAHAH

"As President, he’ll cut taxes for 95% of all working families, provide affordable health care to every American, end the tax breaks for companies that ship our jobs overseas, and eliminate the oil we import from the Middle East in ten years," -Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

Okay first of all, end tax breaks for companies that outsource.  The reason companies outsource is because it is CHEAPER to do so.  If you end tax breaks savvy companies will STILL outsource, thus you're taxing companies who are trying to stay competitive by cutting costs.  They want to give tax breaks only to those who keep jobs in America?  Any graduate of a college level economics course knows that giving economic incentives to keeping jobs we suck at inside the U.S. can only hurt our industries. OMG.  We will get more and more and more non-competitive in relation to the rest of the world. In the end, no one will take those government tax breaks because the costs of a U.S. workforce are simply too high in comparison to going to say China, India, Romania, etc.

Okay, so like. Cut taxes for 95% of all working families, WHILE providing affordable health care to EVERY American.  Obama will cut taxes and somehow spend more than any other administration has ever done before it on health care. AND eliminate imported oil from the Middle East.  Right. And maybe he'll stop global warming and dodo's will unextinct.  Yeesh. I mean, I'm all for educated political commentary and I can appreciate that yes, universal health care would be nice, and a little energy independence will be nice, but shoot... there's some funny math here.

Cut taxes, which are the only way to pay for universal health care.  Hm. Eliminate all middle eastern oil in 10 years.  Wait, why do we want to eliminate middle eastern oil?  Iran's really the only real bad guy out there? Or so I thought?.Or that we'll shift more than 12% of our dependence on middle eastern oil... to where... the US? Without drilling? Hah. The last time oil doubled in price, it only took a 3% blip in supply to exact that nasty toll on our pocketbooks.  So the middle east people are the bad guys right? Because any of them could cut supply and double our gas prices.  Then again, so could Venezuela.  Oh yeah they hate us too.  I just kinda don't see this eliminating oil thing working out.  Not in this generation at least.
